Porcelain & tile series QZ / TILE

Porcelain & Tile Cutting Blade

Thin-kerf diamond blades for porcelain, ceramic tile and vitrified slabs — continuous rim, low segment height and a fine diamond bond that leaves a clean glaze edge instead of a chipped one.

Tile does not wear a blade out; it chips. Chipping comes from a blade that is too thick for the glaze, a feed rate that is too fast, or a rim that cannot clear the swarf. A thin continuous rim run at low feed is what produces a factory-clean edge. Hubei Qianzhao Diamond Tools Co., Ltd (Ezhou, Hubei) produces 100,000 blades and 3 million segments a year and exports to 14 countries.

02 Overview

Why does porcelain chip when I cut it?

Porcelain chips for three reasons: the blade is thicker than the glaze can tolerate, the feed rate is too high, or the rim cannot clear the swarf fast enough. Fix the blade first, then the technique.

What you are cutting What to ask for
Glazed wall tile, soft body Thin continuous rim, fine bond — the glaze is the only hard part
Porcelain and vitrified tile Harder bond and finer diamond; expect slower feed and more water
Large-format slab, 6 mm and up Rigid thin core to stop deflection at the end of the cut
Cut-outs, L-shapes, drain holes Small diameter with continuous rim — a corner is where chipping starts

A tile blade and a stone blade are not interchangeable. Tile blades use a continuous rim with no gullets, because a segmented rim grabs the glaze and lifts it. Run a granite blade on porcelain and you will see chipping along the whole cut, no matter how slow you go.

03 Technical specifications

What are the technical specs of the tile blades?

Only what is fixed at series level is listed here. Segment or rim height, core thickness and maximum rpm depend on the diameter and the machine — they are confirmed on your quotation.

Which diameter do I need for which cutter?

The machine decides the diameter. All sizes use a continuous rim; the bore and rim height change with the machine.

Diameter Inch Typical machine Typical job
100 mm4"Angle grinderSmall format tile, cut-outs, repair work
115 mm4.5"Angle grinderWall and floor tile, straight cuts
125 mm5"Angle grinderFloor tile, thin slab
180 mm7"Angle grinder / small cutterLarge tile, deeper cut
230 mm9"Angle grinderLarge-format tile, slab work
350 mm14"Bench / hand-held wet cutterFull slab, repetitive straight cuts

Rim height, core thickness and maximum rpm are set per diameter and confirmed on the quotation. Never exceed the maximum rpm printed on the blade.

05 Applications

Which tiles can these blades cut?

Built for tile and porcelain on grinders and wet cutters. Selection should account for the tile body, the glaze and whether the cut is a straight run or a cut-out.

A / 01

Porcelain and vitrified tile

The primary application. Vitrified bodies are dense and hard — use a harder bond, keep the water flowing and let the blade cut at its own rate.

A / 02

Glazed wall and floor tile

Softer body, hard glaze. A thin continuous rim enters the glaze without lifting it, which is where chipping normally starts.

A / 03

Large-format slab and cut-outs

A rigid thin core stops the blade deflecting at the end of a long cut. For L-shapes and drain holes, use a small diameter and finish the corner from both sides.

06 Customization

Can the logo and packaging be customized?

Logo

Laser-marked or printed logo on the core, matching the artwork you supply. Size and placement confirmed against the blade diameter.

Packaging

Skin packaging, colour boxes and neutral export cartons — including cartons with no branding for distributors.

Specification

Bore, rim height and bond can be set for a specific tile body or machine, subject to a minimum order quantity per specification.

07 Manufacturing

What is Hubei Qianzhao's manufacturing capability?

Qianzhao has been making diamond tools in Ezhou, Hubei for seven years. The plant produces 100,000 blades and 3 million diamond segments a year, and exports to 14 countries.

Continuous rims are produced in-house, which is what makes a fine, even diamond distribution possible at the edge — the part of the blade that decides whether the glaze chips.

08 FAQ

What should I confirm before ordering a tile blade?

Why does my tile blade chip the edge?

Almost always because the blade is too thick for the glaze, or the feed rate is too high. A segmented rim designed for stone grabs the glaze and lifts it. Switch to a thin continuous rim, reduce the feed, and keep water on the cut.

Wet or dry for porcelain?

Dry is normal on an angle grinder, but water gives a cleaner edge and much longer blade life. On a bench or bridge cutter always run wet — dry cutting a large slab overheats the rim and warps the core.

What bore do the tile blades come with?

22.23 mm as standard, which fits angle grinders. 25.4 mm and other bores, plus reducing rings, can be supplied — state the arbor when you inquire.

Can I use a tile blade on marble or granite?

It will cut, but the bond is designed for a hard, thin, brittle body, not for thick stone. On granite the blade will glaze and slow down quickly. Use a stone blade for stone.

What is the minimum order quantity?

10 pieces per size for stock specifications. Mixed sizes can be combined in one order.
